Wednesday, June 10, 2020:     I M P O R T A N T    A N N O U N C E M E N T !

My dear parishioners and friends,

As the angel said to the shepherds, “I announce to you good news!” (Luke 2:10)  And how nice it is to be the bearer of good news! The Ontario provincial government has just put into effect a new protocol re-garding the re-opening of churches for public divine service. As of this coming Friday, June 12th, churches and other houses of worship may open for Sunday and daily religious service, and other activities, up to 30% capacity of the particular church building. The new protocol is province-wide and does not depend upon region.

St. Catherine’s, Bond Head — including the church, the choir loft and the vestibule — has a seating capacity of at least 160 people. This will comfortably allow us, in conformity with the new protocol, to permit a congregation of 50 or so people to attend at any given church service. Since St. Catherine’s is a small parish, and our peak attendance at any one time rarely exceeds 50 people, for us 30% capacity means that, as of Friday, June 12th, all our parishioners, visitors and guests — without exception — will be able to re-sume attendance at the Divine Liturgy on Sundays, holy days and indeed daily. In announcing this new pro-tocol, Premier Doug Ford stated, “During these uncertain times our faith has never been more important.” Believers all across the province wholeheartedly agree and are gratified that, in conformity with the commandments, we can once more “keep holy the Sabbath day” (Exodus 19:8) with the public worship of God.

Please note that, at the present time (subject to change in the next few months), the weekly schedule of Divine Liturgies (Holy Masses) at St. Catherine’s, Bond Head, is as follows:

Saturday Vigil Liturgy for Sunday: 4 p.m.
Sunday Liturgy (Ukrainian): 9:30 a.m.  Sunday Liturgy (English): 11:30 a.m.
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday: 9:15 a.m.
Thursday: 7 p.m., followed by devotion to St. Jude.
Holy Days: 7 p.m.

Holy days coming up in June: Feast of the Holy Eucharist, Thursday, June 11; Feast of Christ, the Lover of Humankind, Friday, June 19; the Birth of St. John the Baptist, Wednesday, June 24; the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul, Monday, June 29. On all these holy days the Divine Liturgy will be at 7 p.m.

May the good Lord bless you and your loved ones and the all-holy Mother of God be your refuge. Stay healthy and see you in church!

— Father Conrad.
